Founder/President of Define Institute of Beauty and Coelrain resident, Candace Matsuda, launched the Define Institute of Beauty cosmetology school in Springdale, Ohio, this month. The school is located at 11489 Princeton Pike, and its first class is scheduled for January 15th. It will offer a well-rounded curriculum focused on Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Tech programming. Matsuda purchased and rehabbed the space, which formerly served as the location of Regency Beauty Institute before it closed along with 79 campuses nationwide in 2016.
“In celebration of our launch, Define Institute of Beauty will be offering cosmetology and esthetics programs at half the cost of other beauty schools in the area. The nail tech program will also be offered at a special rate.”
Define Institute of Beauty’s instructors will include Donna Schneider, Erica Boggs and McKayla Grimes, who together offer a combined total of nearly 50 years of teaching experience in respective Cosmetology and/or Esthetics fields. It is still hiring.
“We are happy to welcome Define Institute of Beauty to the City of Springdale,” said Springdale Mayor Doyle Webster. “Their convenient location near I-275 and the many nearby restaurants and stores make this an ideal place for students to train for careers in cosmetology.”
A passionate and motivated individual, Candace Matsuda has dedicated her life and career to beauty. Breaking into the industry at the age of 21, Candace began working as a freelance make-up artist for Clinique. She has since travelled the globe, training with world-renowned celebrity make-up artists, both perfecting her art and building a diverse portfolio. With clients ranging from bridal groups, models, nationally recognized magazines, celebrities, Olympic athletes, television shows and motion pictures, Candace’s portfolio reflects her extensive experience.
Eager to gain skills in beauty, Candace went onto become a certified MAC make-up artist and graduate of The Makeup Artist Workshop, in addition to becoming a Licensed Esthetician. Alongside her make-up career and travelling the world, Candace has also established and successfully runs her own bridal business, Style Squad and Day Spa, Define Skin Care and Esthetics.
Matsuda escaped a difficult and poverty-stricken upbringing by delving through magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire and Elle – a passion that eventually led to a lifelong love for the beauty industry. She accredits overcoming challenges to achieve success as part of her motivation to help her students do the same.
Define Skin Care and Esthetics was founded in 2013 and has since developed a full skincare and makeup line. In 2017 Define expanded again and created Define Institute of Beauty to deliver quality education and products to aspiring estheticians, nail technicians and cosmetologists. Define is currently working on developing a line of hair care products
